TRICHARDTSDAL – A tractor was hijacked by four armed men at the entrance of Beer Farm on the D21 Road near Trichardtsdal in a brazen incident that occurred shortly after midnight on Tuesday.
According to reports, the tractor driver was in the process of closing the farm gate when he was approached by four suspects armed with a firearm. The men threatened the driver and took control of the situation.
After the driver completed his task, the suspects forced him to leave the area with them before abandoning him on the roadside and fleeing with the tractor. Fortunately, the driver was able to contact the farm owner, who immediately alerted Ofcalaco Farm Watch.
A rapid response led to the recovery of the tractor on the D21 Road, only a short distance from the farm. However, the suspects had siphoned diesel from the vehicle before abandoning it in the middle of the roadway.
The incident was reported to the authorities, and a case of hijacking has been opened. Police have launched an investigation and are actively pursuing leads to identify and apprehend the suspects.
Sources indicate that this is the second incident involving the same group of suspects attempting to hijack a tractor in the area, raising concerns among local farmers and residents about increasing criminal activity targeting agricultural equipment.
Authorities have urged community members to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity that could assist in the ongoing investigation.
